Covenant Life Church is a vibrant, multigenerational congregation in downtown Grand Haven, close to the shores of Lake Michigan.
Our Mission
To help each other take the next step in our relationship with Jesus Christ.
Our passion is to see people GATHER in Christ for worship and encouragement, to GROW together in grace and the knowledge of Jesus Christ, to GO into the world to live and share the good news, and to GIVE to bless our community.
What We Believe
We believe in God - Father, Son, and Spirit - and that all are invited to find new life in Jesus Christ as revealed in God's Word. We believe this new life leads us to a life of worship, humility, and service as we learn to love God and love our neighbor.
We are a part of the Reformed tradition of the Christian faith, grateful for the history that we inherit and many new expressions of our faith together. We belong to the Christian Reformed Church, and you can read more deeply about our beliefs by clicking here.
We'd be glad to talk with you more if you have any questions. Simply email info@ghclc.org and we'll do our best to take care of you. We look forward to welcoming you into the Covenant Life community!
We summarize our foundational beliefs as follows:
We believe in one God who exists in three “Persons.” Specifically, we believe that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are distinct Persons; that each is fully God; and that there is only one God.
We believe that God created all that has ever existed, or will ever exist, and that God created human beings in His own image.
We believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, took on flesh, lived a perfect life, and died on a cross to pay the penalty for our sin – an act of unspeakable love and amazing grace.
We believe that the Holy Spirit was sent by God to live in and transform believers so that we turn away from the bondage of sin and toward everlasting freedom in Christ.
We believe that the 66 books of the Bible constitute the entire canon of scripture, and that the Bible is the true, inspired Word of God; our final authority for faith and practice.
We believe in the reality of sin, and that from the beginning, starting with Adam and Eve, our sin has created separation between people and God. We further believe that sin keeps us from living the fully human, fully alive life that God intended for us to live.
We believe that the only way to be redeemed by God, and reconciled to God, is through salvation that comes by believing in Jesus Christ as we trust in Jesus as Savior and Lord.
We believe that Jesus will come one day to judge the world and make all things new.
We believe that the church is the bride of Christ, a spiritual body made up of all believers, each of whom God longs to use as part of God’s plan to reconcile the world to Himself.
We believe that God has given us two Sacraments to practice together in Christian Community: Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
We give thanks for the saints who have gone before us, and have left us gifts to help us better understand the Bible and our Christian faith. Hence, we affirm and hold to:
The Apostle's Creed, the Nicene Creed, the Athanasian Creed, the Belgic Confession, the Heidelberg Catechism, and the Canons of Dort.
